Spark! is an arts education initiative that will expand the opportunities available to Fresno County students so they can be involved in unique educational experiences in the arts. With a vision of a prosperous community with college and career-ready graduates skilled in creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and communication through arts and career technical education, the Arts Business Coalition is anxious to begin developing model arts and career technical education programs in Fresno schools.

Many thanks to Kurt and Teri Zumwalt for hosting the recent Spark! “friend-raiser” event at their beautiful home on February 26th. The event was a perfectly executed social and informational session. The FCOE Visual and Performing Arts coordinator, Bob Bullwinkel, spoke about the connection between the arts and the development of a creative workforce, Kurt and Mendota Superintendent Crass spoke about the impact they have witnessed in the third grade arts program funded by Zumwalt Construction, and contributor Gary Janzen unveiled the community awareness campaign. There is no doubt that guests in attendance were inspired! To date, we have raised over $130,000 to support arts education in classrooms across the county. For more information about Spark! contact Theresa Tovar at 265-3098 extension 3524.
